We love living in Dolphin Square and we love the fact it has its own sports centre - but is anyone else getting fed up with the over-crowding in the pool?
For a while things improved, particularly when kids were limited to certain times of the day, but unfortunately it's now even worse than before, thanks to private lessons.
It's great to see the kids learning to swim but surely these private lessons should be limited to certain times of the day because there's no way of knowing when the pool is going to be totally free for the rest of us. They seem to be held most days, mornings and afternoons, surely this is excessive? Wouldn't it be fairer to have them, say, twice a week, mornings only. That way we would know that the afternoons are free for the rest of us who want to be able to swim without bashing into eachother, thanks to lack of space.
The other day two lanes were closed thanks to a very busy aqua aerobics class taking up one lane and a private lesson taking up another. There was just about room for two swimmers in the middle. This really isn't fair when you consider that the majority of paying members don't have kids and look forward to having the space to swim. One lane closure is more than enough.
Alas if this continues then we'll probably give up our membership and use the local pool which we understand is just round the corner and a lot bigger. Sorry for the moan but are we alone?

If the management can squeeze a few quid out of someone they will. So if these clubs and learners are paying extra, then we're stuck with them for good.

I'm afraid you're right - it's now getting to be a regular occurence. Kids in one lane, private lessons in another - and just about room for two swimmers in the middle. Two membership cancellations coming up!

Where is the pool around the corner?!
Is it my imagination or was the Dolphin pool bigger before it was refurbished? A few lanes seem to have been lost to fit sun loungers round the edge.
Schools used to swim until 10.30 and after that it was a small person free zone.

I don't see a problem, I use the facility on a regular basis and find it well organised. I've witnessed the staff as children to calm down and also advise parents/carers to take more control of the children whilst in the pool. I'm not aware of a pool "around the corner", is it a private pool or public? Either way wouldn't you still get children there too?
