For anyone who has been feeling the cold over the past few days: good news. The DSTA has been emailing general manager Simon Pratt on the issue and today (Tues 20 May) he wrote this:
"Yours and other residents feedback have been carefully monitored by our team and logged over the past few days. We were initially hopeful that the external ambient temperature would be sufficient to avoid having to turn the heating back on, however the weather seems to have cooled off a little more than expected…. We can therefore advise that Andrew Peat, Facilities Manager and his team are tonight personally making arrangements to turn the heating back on by midday tomorrow in direct response to our residents feedback. Finally, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused."
So, heat tomorrow.

As the new guy on the block my comments are that with a communal on/off system such as this is that most people will have their windows open tomorrow not giving two hoots about global warming !

Well done to the DSTA for getting the heating turned back on in late May. On this muggy, warm day it's just what we need. Crank the boilers up, June is coming!

Yes, indeed ds1, well done the DSTA for getting the heating turned back in MID-may. The reason we asked was because many people - not all of them old - contacted us because they were cold. And when we raised the issue, it was indeed a bit parky. That's what we do in the DSTA: communicate tenants' views and concerns to the landlord.
That it took Mantilla a few days to action the issue - by which time the temperature had risen slightly - is not something for which you can sneer at the DSTA.
Tobyw, rather that those who feel too warm opening their windows, they could try turning off the heat in their flat instead!
And for your information, Option B leases state that the landlord will supply heat from 1 October to 31 May.
